The music of Mahalia Jackson and Son House influenced Mick before he even stared school and when he heard Freddie King he knew he had to play guitar. Growing up in S.E. Michigan the eclectic musical variety ranging from Country to Motown to The MC5 and British blues bands helped to further influence and drive Mick providing him with a musical palate from which to enhance his guitar playing and song writing. Having toured throughout the USA and Europe in the past Mick recreates the music now with THE BACKROAD PREACHERS.
Wolf Bering grew up steeped in music watching his father and uncle tear it up playing the music of Led Zeppelin, Ace Frehley, Black Sabbath and Cream. In his own right Wolf added the power of Grand Funk Railroad and Humble Pie to his early musical indoctrination. Even with this ‘high-octane’ powerhouse guitar attitude Wolf learned control and variety by also performing in German cultural bands which only helps to enhance his effortless style.
Dave grew up in Missouri with musical influences from Bluegrass to Big Band to Metal. Bassists like Steve Harris, John Paul Jones, and Gene Simmons helped shape his playing style and love of the rhythm section.
Music and drumming have always been a part of Chris’s life. Raised in the Metro-Detoit area he developed the ‘ear’ for rhythmic structures and the ‘discipline’ how to employ them to enhance the nuance of the music. His influences range from traditional German cultural music to the drumming styles of Phil collins, Jeff Porcaro, Hal Blaine and Steve Gadd to name a few.
